What is COD analyzer ? 

Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) is a chemical method to measure the amount of reducing substances that need to be oxidized in a water sample. It is the oxygen equivalent of substances (generally organic matter) that can be oxidized by strong oxidants in wastewater, effluent from wastewater treatment plants and contaminated water. In the study of river pollution and the properties of industrial wastewater, as well as the operation and management of wastewater treatment plants, it is an important and quickly measured organic pollution parameter, often represented by the symbol COD.

How to measure COD ?

The oxidants used to measure chemical oxygen demand are generally potassium permanganate or potassium dichromate. Different oxidants will give different values, so the detection method needs to be specified. In order to unify and be comparable, each country has certain monitoring standards. Depending on the different oxidants used, they are called potassium dichromate oxygen consumption (usually called chemical oxygen demand) and potassium permanganate oxygen consumption (usually called oxygen consumption, abbreviated as OC, also known as permanganate index).
